i was wondering what you guys think i would run in the 1/4 with

1994 firebird formula a4 79k miles 3.23gears and a very recently completely rebuilt 4l60e

tb bypass, descreened maf, k&n fipk, flowmaster american thunder catback , b&m electronic shift improver, and a trickflow elbow if that does anything

My guess is 14.0, but I have manula and 4.11 gears so this is unmarked territory for me. Maybe it less, maybe its more. But Im sure either way that your times are going to get faster and faster.

13.6-13.8 is my guess
Tyler
13.9 @ 101 mph.

When will we find out?
formy94
i wont be racing it until late march or early april because thats when it warms up over here in new jersey i hope i can get into the 13's
Tyler
Ok,you cant do that! We gotsta know! Get on ebay and buy a 39.95 Gtech!
formy94
i know i was thinking about getting one but i heard they're not accurate
Tyler
E.T.'s seem to be right on the money while the trap speed is a bit optimistic.

Depends: Are you RUNning behind or pulling or running freelance with the car. cool.gif

I think with the mods you have you will run inthe low 14 second range. The TB bypass really doesn't get you much, The 2 mods you have that will get you some good ponies are the FIPK, and the cat back. with both you probably got a good 25HP.

That said you are most likely making around 310 at the crank. so if you lose 15% through the auto you will be putting about 265HP to the ground. Now that is all just math, and some cars put down more them others so it is just a guestimate.

You do have 3.23's they are ok but your car could really wake up with a high stall converter and a set of 3.73's

But as is I would look for a low 14 second run, maybe better if the car is a strong example of a 94.

When my car was mostly stock except for a 3200 rpm stall and a good custom tune it went mid 13s all day long on a 130+ motor in the summer heat it also had a flowmaster and a K@N FIPK.
Doug
mine did also LOL but I have seen a ton of LT1 struggle to get into the 13's with just a FIPK and exhaust.

BadBird the 3200stall got you alot that is why you ran mid 13's!!!

My car did the same exact thing when I added the stall converter droped almost .6 of my time.

so if you had the stock 1800RPM converter you would most likely have run a high 13 or low 14.

HEY, I HAVE A 2000 TRANS AM AND BONE STOCK AUTOMATIC, I RAN A 13.3 IN THE 1/4 WITH A R/T OF .693 A 60 IN 1.9, 330, 5.7, 1/8,8.5, 1000, 11.00, AND I WAS TRAPED AT 105.4 MPH...... I RACED A SLOW ###### 15 SEC AWD 1.8T SOMETHING HAHA
Tyler
Yep.95% of the time an LS1 is stronger running than an LT1 stock for stock.

I gotta say that altitude is a big factor, but being in Jersey i'd guess your right around sea level. Here in Utah i'm something like 5000 feet about sea level or more, so my times are around 1 second or more off, and the best my car has run is high 14's at our local track. But also our local track is a piece of junk that really needs to be redone.

Here in Florida, I took a bone stock 1994 LT1 Formula, and ran three passes. They were 13.9.......14.0..........and 13.9. It was an automatic, I went around the wash-it-all-out- water box, and pegged it off of idle with 22psi in the real street tires. The car had less than 36,000 HARD miles on it. Oh though it did have a stupid K&N drop in air filter.

I say 13.9 maybe as slow as 14.3 with bad conditions..........get a g-tech, the ets are pretty dang close.
