since we are on drag tips what do people launch there auto cars at ????

Most M6 guys launch around 2500 - 3000. It depends on your tires and ablility to ease the throttle to prevent excess wheel spin. Best thing to say is practice somewhere you won't get a lot of attention. Also, if you use street tires, make sure to lower the preasure. Some drop the preasure around 20 - 25 lbs. Ask around to a few guys at the track and see what they do. Sometimes you will find some peopel that will help you get an idea about the lanes.

At the strip I roll quickly onto the throttle from a small(about 1,400 rpm) preload after a short(4-5 sec.) dry burnout on street tires with a normal 35psi. Notice I said roll quickly, not stab, the throttle. Leave when you see the 3rd yellow shine. Also, I vote for letting stockish autos shift themselves. Do the burnout in 1 though so it doesn't try to skip to and bog down in 2nd. Don't forget to put it back in 3 or D before you start. If you leave it in 3 take your hand off the selector to keep from yanking it back toward 2 or 1 when it hits a gear. Drag radials will allow more revs at the line and lower psi.
